Energy Ambassador Parties

SSMC’s Energy Ambassador Program educates homeowners on home energy efficiency as it relates to behaviors, electricity usage, and the building envelope. In order to do this, we take a “top-down” approach to make sure homeowners recognize all aspects of home energy efficiency.

Unfortunately, the concepts surrounding energy efficiency are not extremely exciting for most people. Once you start talking about insulation, ducts, and air sealing, many people lose interest. This is because we do not think about these areas of our home, they are “out of sight, out of mind.”

The Energy Ambassador Party brings some life to what is normally dry and scientific. Guests have a chance to enjoy some refreshments, mingle with some like-minded people, and learn about then learn about energy related concepts. By using the host’s home as a case study, we bring these energy related symptoms to life. Leaky ducts are not interesting until you hear the story. EX: Steve’s room was so cold last winter, he actually wore his ski clothes to prove a point!
