How to Access Unemployment Benefits:To file an unemployment claim in San Mateo County, your best is to call the Employment Development Dept. at 1-800-300-5616 or go online to www.edd.ca.gov. For placing a phone the hours are Monday- Friday 8am-5pm. When you visit their website, click on the “Unemployment” tab and it give you step by step instructions to filing a unemployment claim and accessing COBRA healthcare.

It can be hard to pay the bills when money is in short supply. To keep the lights on for people who have fallen on hard times, PG&E had created a financial assistance program that you can access here
