Bottom Line: You can access the bulk of the County’s library information from your home. Save time, use less carbon; check-in online.
Most county residents assume that to use your local library, you need to get in your car (or bike or bus) and head to your local branch. And while your local library is still a fantastic resource for hands on learning and research, you can also access a lot of the same information right from the comfort of your home.
How can I access these Databases and eBooks collections from home?
- Remote access (access from home, work, or school) requires each user to enter his or her library card number.
- Most libraries jointly subscribe to online resources that all our users can access from home using a valid library card.
- The San Mateo County Library also subscribes separately to additional online resources. You can access these resources from home only if you have a valid library card and live in one of the San Mateo County Library jurisdictions.
- Not all County municipalities fall under that SMCL jurisdiction, so your access may vary depending on where you live.
Take Action:
- To apply for a library card online, please go here.
- To find your nearest local library branch, head to the County library homepage here.
- If you already have your library card and are ready to access the online service, visit here.
