Responsibilities:
As the lead engineer of Sustainable Spaces’ engineering design team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the successful growth and development of the department as well as our work in building science R & D. The ideal candidate will be successful in working in a dynamic and fast-paced team while completing design work for a wide range of projects including forced air, hydronic, DHW, solar thermal, PV systems and zero energy homes. You should enjoy a fast-paced, collaborative work environment and be passionate about your work as an engineer, using your skills to advise on energy efficient designs and installation. We are currently seeking a Professional Engineer to be based in our San Francisco office. Responsibilities include:

1.Playing a key role in building science R & D
2.Taking the lead in the design of zero energy homes.
3.Working directly with the retrofitting crew as your designs are implemented.
4.Take initiative to continuously improve company processes and efficiency by working closely with construction to assure parts, designs and installation are effective.
5.Review designs, assure training and growth for engineers

Qualifications:
1.Professional Engineer Certification (preferably mechanical)
2.Experience successfully growing and leading an engineering team
3.Proven abilities in innovative HVAC design, familiar with ASHRAE, ACCA standards for residential design.
4.Software capabilities including F-Chart, Wrightsoft, EnergyPlus and DOE-2, AUTOCAD
5.Extensive passive solar and ventilation design and modeling
6.Experience or interest in working in the construction field
