Northern California Urban Development
Our Mission:To relieve the causes and effects of systemic and generational poverty in Northern California’s under-served communities, starting in East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park.
Free Housing Counseling:
NCUD offers foreclosure counseling and loss mitigation advocacy to homeowners facing foreclosure who are 30 days or more delinquent on their mortgage note. Our counseling program is specifically geared towards at-risk senior citizens and single parent homeowners in low-income and under resourced communities. Counseling sessions will prepare homeowners with the tools necessary to maintain homeownership or enable them with the resources needed to transition into rental housing. Participants will be provided with hands-on personal budgeting and credit review, which will teach them to manage their finances and understand the bigger picture of money in their community and world. As part of our comprehensive approach we teach homeowners how to be leaders over their finances and learn how to balance their personal lives. All participants must be active in the loss mitigation process and agree to make necessary changes such as readjusting spending habits. Counseling can last anywhere from 2 to 6 months.
